Mystical Insights from Dove Holes: An Ancient Sacred Site

There is little information online to be gleaned of this ancient neolithic (stone age) site, strangely named, the Bull Ring. It sits somewhat hidden and, as we came to understand, thoroughly understated, beside the village of Dove Holes.

The name Dove holes can be traced back to the Celtic word ‘dwfr’, which means Water. Thus Dove Holes translates as water holes, as opposed to sharing a link with doves.

This potentially once significant and impressive site is considered to be the twin of Arbor Lowe Henge. The slightly more intact so called sister site, a little further south. The only reason given for this comparison formally, is due to its similarity in size and location. However, there are no doubt more mystical insights to glean another day.

While Arbor Lowe still houses its original stones, The Bull ring has sadly lost hers. Historically, it is unclear if she actually ever had more than one. Archaeologists have found no evidence to suggest there was ever more than one rather large menhir at her center. At this time in history, no stones at all remain. People believe that any existing stones have been integrated into the local landscape. They have been used to provide gateways and walling as agricultural demands grew.

You notice my use of the feminine to describe her? Well, my old school friend, Andrew Hutchings and I visited the site together. Neither of us had visited her before. We both enjoy connecting with the energies of places. This helps us to better understand their stories. We both independently sensed a feminine energy from the space.

This is the mystical story of what we discovered…

Upon arrival at the site, we took a moment to stand at the south entrance. We offered blessings to any gatekeepers. We awaited permission to enter. I have realized that paying homage like this boosts the energies of a place. It helps both parties, the land and the visitor, enter a receptive state.

On our way to the site, we each observed the incredible friendliness and warmth. We noticed this in the three people we met. As I stood outside, I was incredibly drawn to the only tree within. It was growing just off center. We later learn, thanks to Joe the groundsman, that this was a self seeded willow tree. In any case, I was attracted to the tree and spent some time connecting with it to hear its story. The tree was in a bad way, barely surviving. It spoke of a heavy anxiety and how the land was struggling with geopathic stress. I breathed with it for a while. After feeling a shift, I spent some time creating a protective shield over the whole site. I had the assistance of Merlin AKA St.Germain.

I then lit some Nag Champa around the tree. I called in the 4 directions. Then, I worked with my divination pendulum to find the epicenter of the circle. I felt for any energetic evidence of a portal. The number I kept getting was 3. I eventually divined the approximate whereabouts of a small vortex area. Three ley lines formed its edges. The energy in this spot had a funny effect on my legs! At this point, I decided to catch up with Andrew and see what he had found out.

I approached and we began to share knowledge. Then, the groundskeeper, Joe, came to us. He asked if we knew anything about the place. Apparently he loved it and was keen to know anything we could determine. Joe had lived there since 1958 and since retiring had taken over the running of the grounds. He clearly took great pleasure from this role. We could feel the warmth he held for the place.

He told us about the willow tree and I shared what I knew so far about the stress. I noticed there was a slightly heavy energy on the surface. Beneath that, a very calm base of warm and loving energy ran deep. I asked if Jo knew anything about the name ‘Bull Ring’, but he did not. I shared information that a member of a facebook site had told me. They mentioned the bull ring potentially being related to the Taurus Ground Zodiac. I have experienced this in other circles. Star constellations connect with the energies of a space. They are used for divination and contacting interstellar communities. People recognize the interplay between the stars’ movement and the Earth. As I spoke of this, Andrew was receiving some very loud yes signals from his own internal divination method.

Andrew was then able to share his experience. He had witnessed a sensation of great fires burning around the perimeter. Soil hills at the exterior were used to rake over and extinguish the fires as needed.

We decided to move to the centre of the vortex. Our goal was to see if Andrew got a similar reading to me there. He also received a reading about a vortex. He felt there could be three or more ley lines present around us. We decided to sit down, connect with the earth in this vortex and see what else we could glean.

For what felt like a very long time, we lay in beautiful sunlight among the spider-webbed grass, gently channeling. Then we each came back and shared our findings.

Andrew perceived that the perimeter became more like a wall of fire. Once inside, seeing out or in was impossible. The purpose of this was to mimic the shape of the lights in the sky, the stars. This was to create a connection with them. It aimed to create a channel through which something could be sent, received, or understood. Sometimes, he sensed it was dawn or dusk and felt these were important times used within this circle. [Once home, Andrew again connected to the circle, and was shown a parade of ancient people arriving at dusk. They would walk to the Henge form the South (perhaps coming form Arbor Lowe). The column was flanked at the front on each side by torch bearers. These would peel away from the parade as it approached the Henge. They would then proceed to light the fires to either edge of the circle with their torches. This would initiate the ceremony that followed].

He sensed a lot of soft white light. He noticed the colours of the rainbow and subtle hews of purple and white light. Occasionally these were interspersed with splashes of red. To him it felt a very feminine energy with the red splashes indicating the power of menstruation and fertility. Andrew felt strongly that the circle was wanting to join and feel a part of the cosmos.

I received a strong sense of love in the circle too, which felt very feminine. I got the sense that the purpose of the space and how it was used was for manifestation. Women felt an important part of this process, their womb energy and fertility potential were tapped into for creation. An ancient warrior was present. He was very connected with the land and dressed in a similar style to a native American Indian. I was then shown that the land very much enjoyed its past use for this activity. It was used as a space to bring in energies. It blessed people who lived here, often for celebrations.

This was very particularly true for fertility celebrations. It was used in times of union, between couples, specifically for fertility purposes and creating new life. The Bull Ring provided a space for creation, through its own feminine womb energy. I also got a strong sense that feminine womb fertility cycles, and sensory experiences supported many manifestation purposes. For example, food proliferation to help to satiate hunger through enhancing crops and planting times. It was also drawn upon at times of death. During these times, the combined energies of the space helped people ascend into a good pathway. They would then rejoin their etheric origins out in the cosmos.

The Bull symbology came in another form for me too. I was shown a bull running in with excitement. To me, the American Indian totem energy of the buffalo represents abundance. Again, it felt as though this space provided a specific means of alchemising abundance through whatever ritual was undertaken. The place where we were sitting was creating a vortex or portal. This vortex enabled the bringing in and alchemising of the intentions set.

Finally, this space showed me that she would love to be used for these rites again. She loves people walking through. However, not enough are stopping to work with the energy of the land. They are not using her divine privileges. She wants people to come and be blessed. They should work with the space to receive again. It can become a focal point for the village.

I also then came to wonder about the water of Dove Holes. The water is a very feminine energy and again ties into the space. We did not have the time to divine on this occasion. Yet, I couldn’t help but wonder if a cavern or aquifer existed somewhere far beneath the surface. It would explain the deep sense of calm that pervades the undercurrent, despite the obvious initial surface stresses.

As we completed our session and prepared to leave, we acknowledged the peacefulness of the site. It felt much more serene for having been heard. This site reminded us that these ancient spaces wish to be remembered. We should collaborate with them. Our goal is to help restore the light fully to them. This light restoration will extend to the pathways connecting them and ultimately to the greater matrix of the Earth’s grid.

I fully intend to honor her messages and heart felt shares by telling her story. The beautiful taurean cosmic portal of Dove Holes.
